Environmental restoration and Reforestation Investment within local province
The success of any mining operation is measured by economic efficiency and maintaining responsibility towards the surrounding environment and society. In recent years, as the mining industry has become more active and has expanded further, Mongolia’s environmental protection laws and legislations are being updated and developed to create responsible mining.
Our company started its environmental management organization, implementation, and environmental monitoring work in parallel with mining operations, and has been working in accordance with Mongolian laws, regulations, standards, and development policy principles until now.
Since the beginning of the mining operation, in 2008-2023, a total of 147.7 hectares of environmental restoration and reforestation works have been carried out and handed over to the Selenge Province Commission. As part of environmental restoration, perennial plants and two-year pines, elms, fruit trees and bushes have been planted as part of our reforestation efforts.
In between 2010-2023, as part of the technical rehabilitation and equivalent protection work within an area of 56.55 hectares of land, 10 hectares of specialized land which was affected by artisinal gold mining were recovered and rehabilitated in Tolgoit deposit of Bugant of Mongolia. So far, more than MNT 1 billion have been invested for rehabilitation work. Furthmore, a total of MNT … have been invested on the local budget, local development and construction for environmental works.
Since 2012, a tree nursery has been established on an area of 0.5 hectares of the mining settlement in order to provide guaranteed continuous seedlings of trees for rehabilitation, reforesetation, and town landscaping.
In 2013, a grove of plants was established at the mining site to meet the miners' nutritional needs and to provide ecological education to the workers, and about 5,000 trees of 6 types were planted. Currently, it is still bearing fruit. As part of the work of creating a healthy and comfortable environment in the mining town and beautifying it with green structures, the work of replanting the roads and areas under human foothold is continuously being carried out.
